Stutter in playback Stranger Things S03E06 - 2160p h265

So far anything that I’ve played has played without any problems on my Vero 4K, many UHD HDR Blurays without any stutters.
Yesterday I watched “Stranger Things - S03E06 - [2160p WEB h265][DEFLATE].mkv” and at 35:58 there is a slow zoom out of static on an old CRT, probably the bitrate here is really high and the Vero 4K stuttered and could not keep up.
Wondered if anybody else had something similar and if I should start tweaking the cache?

Vero is connected with a 1 Gbit network to a Windows 2019 Fileserver that hosts the files.

I suspect that the artifact your seeing is in the file itself which is actually running a very low bitrate. If you wanted to post of a log we could look and see if there is something going on (you would turn on debug logging, reboot twice, play that scene, then upload full logs) but it would most likely be a waste of everyone’s time. As far as the cache goes it is already set as large as it can sensibly be on the Vero.

The static image could indeed cause a very high bitrate. The famous HBO static used to cause problems on the Raspberry Pi some years ago.

How are your shares mounted? SMB? You could look at an OS based mount to improve throughput.

Sam

I think OP is saying there’s an image of static in the video.

It is indeed a slow zoom out of static

Shares are mounted via SMB, and I need that since I have a shared SQL and multiple KODIs looking at the same share.

Try playing back the file from some local storage first.

Would a USB 3 key be fast enough?

Unless it is of an unusually poor quality, then yes. That file does not have a particularly high bitrate.

Will give it a try, unfortunately I won’t be home for the rest of the week so it might take me a while.
