Subtitle position adjustment

A minor thing… but I’m fairly sure that this did once work better than it now does. (Though that may have been quite some time ago!)

Vero 4K+ with OSMC remote. I’ve used the Kodi Keymap Editor to set the volume+ and volume- buttons on the remote to adjust the vertical position of the subtitles. (This is useful when the video has a wider aspect ratio than 16:9, or when I’m watching a low res video at original size; in either case I prefer the subtitles inside the picture rather than in the black at the bottom).

This does basically work. But there was a time when it used to start moving the subtitles as soon as the button was pressed, and stop moving them as soon as the button was released. Now it takes a second or so for them to start moving, and during that time it buffers multiple key presses, so that when you let go of the button the subtitles continue to move for anything up to a couple of seconds afterwards. That makes it difficult to adjust them precisely.

Some debug logs, in case my settings are messed up somehow: https://paste.osmc.tv/igogalewip

Any suggestions?

That initial delay seems to be from it bringing up the overlay. I don’t see an option to just engage the overlay and adjust it from there like you can do with the audio and sub time offset unfortunately. For some reason Kodi seems to have this set to auto hide which may be where your issue is coming from. I’m not sure that is really an OSMC issue. I did give it a go with a V (I don’t have a 4K hooked up presently) and didn’t actually have any issues with being able to get the subs wherever I wanted them and didn’t see any of that buffered reaction you mentioned. If you hadn’t been already you might try pausing the video with some subs on screen which might work better.
