Subtitle Preference to 'ON' not saved

I tested it as well. All virgin videos worked according to the what was set in guisettings, and all videos that had the sub state stored in the db reflected their previous state (both on and off). I only revisited this to try to confirm the bug, but I only found everything to be working as expected.

Me again :relaxed: I started a thread about this back in October 2019
Subtitle Preference to 'ON' not saved - #22 by darwindesign but the problem wasn’t resolved, so I’ve been switching the subs on manually ever since.
However, last night I discovered that if the subtitles are separate files that I’ve downloaded (and renamed, of course :smile_cat:), the subs display automatically when the show starts.
But if video has built-in subtitles, I have to manually switch them on.
Does that provide another clue as to why this could be happening?
Hope everyone is ok. Isn’t this bug awful!

Hi,

It could be that the internal subtitle is marked as forced rather than default. You can check with mediainfo.

Thanks Tom.

I’m not sure this isn’t a configuration issue rather than a bug. Can you reboot twice, turn on debug logging, play a few seconds of a working and not working file, and then upload logs please.

Thanks, I’ll try. Might take me a while to work out how to do that
