Synology Active Backup

Hello again guys,

Does anyone know if it’s possible to install and run the Synology active backup agent/package on a Vero 4k+?
After copying the package into a file directory in the Vero, when I try to install the package I get this error:

root@osmc:/home/osmc/syno# sudo ./install.run
Verifying archive integrity... 100% MD5 checksums are OK. All good.

I suppose that means its not an available package for the Vero?
Sorry if it’s a repeat question, I found some things nothing too similar

Hi,

You seem to be on a very old version of OSMC as we moved to the 4.9 kernel some time ago. I’d update your system first.

We provide headers for our kernels, usually in the package form of vero364-headers-4.9.113-60 for example. The script may need editing slightly to change the dependency handling.

yeah ahah, I’m putting off updating for as long as possible, as the past three times I’ve updated I’ve always had issues. Some with video play back, library and scanning issues and other add on issues. Mainly the interface add-ons; skin helper widgets, colour picker, shortcuts and up next popup and skin backup as these are the only ones I use. Hence I’m holding off for as long as possible but that’s for another topic.

Thanks for providing the tips, I know where to begin my investigation now.

We do keep older versions of OSMC available pretty much indefinitely, so you may want to try an upgrade at some point if you have some time. But if it ain’t broke…
