[TESTING] Linux 4.9 kernel and improved video stack for Vero 4K / 4K +

All my 3D MVC files use this naming convention, it’s historically for the RPi as it required 3D.SBS in the filename (even though they are MVC). Most of my files with this naming convention play in hardware sterescopic correctly on the Vero.
I’ve changed it to 3D.MVC and it makes no difference.

Not that this is particularly relevant to your problem, @bossbrick, but just FYI: if a 3D video file is derived from a TV broadcast, it’s highly unlikely that it’s in MVC format. SBS is the usual format for 3D TV broadcasts. MVC is only used on 3D blu rays.

Found the problem with my 3D MVC files, the Stereoscopy flag in the problem MKV files weren’t set to 13 (or anything). These files worked fine in RPi Libreelec as that uses the filename. When the flag is set to 13 they work correctly on the Vero.

Yes, that would have been my next suggestion, too . There’s a bug in the current testbuild that handles files called xyz.3D.MVC.mkv in an invalid way. I fixed that bug some weeks ago and it will be part of the next testbuild.

Yes I remember the wakeup for the odroid C2 was possible by bootloader modification. I will use the suspend mode instead. By the way, I tested this improved video stack build for Vero 4k+ for some hours now. I am very happy with it. In my case (Panasonic Plasma TV and Sony Projector) it works like a charm with 3D.MVC. Until now I could not find any file that is not playable on my NAS. I´ll will continue testing and will write here if I find something odd. Thanks for all your hard work. You made my Kodi experience much better with this.

If there is interest, we can look at implementing IR wakeup in UBoot at a later date

You should probably do a bit of background reading on linux before installing any ‘unstable’ releases like this one.

Problem with corrupt video and picture blanking out. MKV file has a corrupt picture stream but all other players show the corrupt frames and continue as normal. Non testing version of OSMC plays it fine too. On this testing the screen goes blank but the sound continues OK at 0:22 on this extracted clip.
