[TESTING] Vero V: Dolby Vision TV led support

Quick test using the kodi sample Dolby Vision FEL Test Samples I don’t see the woman at the 80s mark. Am I missing something ?

Did you install the test build? I don’t think you’re a member of the test group.

Sam

oh. I thought it was only the instructions on the first post. May I participate ?

For now testing is only available to the original participants as they provided extensive feedback.

:saluting_face::ok_hand:

Just out of curiosity, when were users asked to participate in this internal testing chat? Was this done here publicly in the forum?

No - this was done some time before this thread was made. The start of this thread was when DV testing became public.

When we have a good round of testing we will then make FEL builds available publicly in the same way.

Ordered a Vero V because of this :slightly_smiling_face: I’m hoping the testing goes well and we’ll have a public build soon - I’m confident that if you get DV Profile 7 FEL working you’ll get a whole lot more orders!

Fantastic. We’ve already shipped your order on Friday, so it will be with you shortly

I have a technical question regarding Dolby Vision FEL support on the Vero V.
Does “FEL support” mean that the Vero V will be able to perform full dual-layer HEVC decoding and actually merge the BL (Base Layer) and FEL (Full Enhancement Layer) into a single reconstructed video stream, similar to a UHD Blu-ray player?
Or will the FEL EL simply be discarded, with playback falling back to BL + RPU only?
Additionally, in this scenario, will the RPU be processed independently (TV-led or player-led), or will it be tied to the FEL handling logic?

Thanks

Hi

Currently in OSMC, the enhanced layer is discarded. So if you play DV FEL content, it plays, but you only get the MEL.

The changes users are currently testing keep the enhancement layer and allow playback of P7 with both layers merged.

We only do TV led, not player led.

RPU parsing isn’t dependent on FEL.

Thanks. This is amazing — I initially thought only the “J” variant of the SoC would be capable of this.
Do you have any estimation of when FEL support might be available in a release or wider test build for more users?

It’s a test build.

So far we do not announce any support for FEL whatsoever in an official capacity.

Let’s see what can be done

Looking forward to this. In support i recently purchased a Vero V and currently waiting patiently.

Cheers.

Great news! Have been looking forward for this :+1: DVP8.1 support has worked flawlessly for MEL so far
