What I would like to see in the next OSMC iteration is the newest version of transmission, currently sub version 3.
As in version 3 which is already available as part of the Bullseye upgrade which one can test right now?
~$ sudo apt-cache policy transmission
transmission:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 3.00-1
Version table:
3.00-1 500
Isn’t that regular transmission and not the successor to armv7-transmission-app-osmc 2.9.4-6 ?
Indeed, it looks like that hasn’t been updated for Bullseye yet…
~$ sudo apt-cache policy armv7-transmission-app-osmc
armv7-transmission-app-osmc:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 2.9.4-6
Version table:
2.9.4-6 500
I’m sure @sam_nazarko will chime in when he gets a chance.
I’ve updated it and built a newer version of Transmission from source.
You should receive this as an update shortly.
I did notice though that the stable version has been version 3.0.0 for two years now, and that version is current in Debian. I wonder if it’s worth us deprecating the downstream package (one less thing for us to build) and to distribute the Debian version in the future instead.
On the whole, the entire ‘App Store’ concept needs a re-think and re-architecture; as we won’t be able to package everything, and what we do package could be more refined.
Please give it a test and let me know how it goes
Sam
Thank you.
I am running OSMC 2022.06-1 and testing transmission 3
