Transmission web service not working since April update, https SSL certificate too long?

Hi all

Been updating my rpi 2 on the April update and since then Transmission is not accessible from outside the home network, only various error messages through the Transdroid app, and returning the following issue when connecting to port 9091 via firefox:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to lauf.fessy.me:9091. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

From the home network, no issue, everything working just fine.
Also from public network, Nextcloud on the very same pi working just fine through https.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

Unfortunately the apt history and term logs do not appear to go beyond June, so Its hard to be precise about whats going on. But I think during the April update Nginx was updated and some conf files may have been overwritten. I would check the conf files.

Thanks Tom.

I’m also using Transmission and Transdroid and never had to change anything since March 2017 when I purchased my Vero 4k.

Hi Tom, thanks for this advice. Checked nginx conf files, nothing changed.
I investigated further and while I was connecting through http, now Firefox redirects to https, might be the issue?
Still, the pi is also running nextcloud which I access through https and everything still working fine.
Also need to mention I’m actually running June update now.

HI,

I would try and remove the https redirect and see if you can access then transmission then. I think a redirect rule is causing the issue.

Thanks Tom.
