what would be the best approach for me to troubleshoot the CEC part on my Vero V with a TV SAMSUNG TQ65S95F ?
Any special approach to take into account?
Currently, the TV only recognizes that something is connected to the HDMI port, but that’s about it.
Thx for any hint.
PS: First time in 15 years I buy a TV Had a computer screen before that - so want to see what I can do with CEC.
PPS: That TV Screen is awesome (as long as you have decent media material ! )
CEC is a not an easy part to work with and troubleshoot. The protocol defines hardcoded meaning and names of addresses and every company puts its own (sometimes incompatible) stuff to it. Samsung calls it Anynet+ or so.
What you can to do: In the mediacenter activate debug logging and component-specific logging for libCEC.
You see the most communcations now in the logs; some are sometimes ‘translated’ a bit but it is often very helpful to decode the CEC-messages. I find this url is an excellent online tool to quickly decode the CEC-messages.
The rest is finding an apropriate CEC specification in the internet … and a lot of time. Be our guest for CEC-specific inquiries and problems
If you have another decent HDMI cable try that, my Vero V did not work with the provided cable, audio and video was okay, but no CEC, but that was on a Panasonic TV.
CEC is implemented on pin 13 of the HDMI cable using a shared serial bus. Simple measuring equipment should show whether pin 13 is passed through. I’ve never seen an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable without pin 13.
