TVH playback on Vero 4K+ cutting out

Hello,

I am using Vero4K+ to playback radio on TVH (another Vero4K+ with OSMC).
It works for a while, but then cuts-out.
I thought it was the wifi link dropping, but there are no link errors.
On the TVH browser window, this error appears:

2023-08-14 10:35:06.769 htsp: 192.168.1.172 [ osmc | Kodi Media Center ]: Write error -- Broken pipe

I have to stop/start/stop/start a few times, and then it works for a while.
Any ideas anyone?

The logs are here:

Also, the audio output is SPDIF to a Bose Soundbar.
This is what appears in dmesg -T when it cuts-out:

thank you

“link errors” would depend on the driver reporting that (which is most likely not happening).
So I suggest to measure network between the two systems over a respective time via iperf3

This is the speed from server to client.
It’s not very fast, and Retr = 15 … is that an issue maybe?

this is the other direction …

That doesn’t look healthy at all. It doesn’t look like the old Ethernet issue we had some years ago, because that only impacted the TX direction.

But out of curiosity, what happens if you drop the speeds down to 100Mbps using ethtool

I tried with another wifi client, and the numbers look a lot better…

I have a wifi-extender with a different SSID. the slow client is connected to this one.
The fast client is on the main wifi SSID.

I think there might be some routing problem - and the packets are going back to the wrong gateways.

Ah – missed that this was on WiFi.

sorry the TVH server is actually on ETH0, but all the clients are on Wifi

Got it.

It looks like a WiFi issue for sure. Those speeds aren’t very good but the retries are going to cause poor playback.

Hope all is well. Long time no speak.

connected to the main SSID, and the numbers are good again …

problem solved …! thanks everyone

Hi Sam,
All well here, hope all well with you. It’s been a few years… time is passing quickly … wishing you lots of success with new Vero. Thanks - Niall.
