Hi guys,
Any idea why TVH is not creating the correct filename?
In the screenshot below, I have created a file with filename ‘Cúla-ar-Scoil’.
But TVH recorded the programme with filename ‘C𡠴 Ar Scoil’.
It’s strange because TVH made the correct recording:
And the recording details are ok:
I haven’t selected ‘remove all unsafe characters…’.
But I might try ‘Windows-compatible…’

How is the disk formatted?
I tried EXfat first on the Mac.
Then I tried EXT4 on the Vero … but that just give me one small 1MB partition.
Then I re-formatted EXfat on the MacBook.
It was ok for a while, but now it has disconnected …

I’ve reformatted EXT4.
There were 2 partitions (/dev/sda1, /dev/sda2).
I was only formatting the first partition (100MB).
Now, it seems to be working ok.
But still the same issue with the filenames …
It should be like this …

EDIT:
Actually, it’s not just cosmetic …the file where the filename with characters substituted with ‘?’ does not appear on the MacBook with Samba mount.
In the meantime, I’ve set these flags …
Mac shows only one file:
There should be 2 files listed here…
What’s the output of locale?

I think it’s ok, because I can ‘touch’ create a file with the filename.
TVH doesn’t seem to want to create the file with the original filename.

I think this means the error is within TVH.
And not on the HDD format or the target filesystem/operating system.

The solution was to set the DVR character set to UTF8.

Isn’t it annoying when the solution is so obvious? 
Also verify that your EPG data is in UTF-8, and that your muxes are set to UTF-8
sure… and all the fun looking for it 
When I set the muxes to UTF-8 or ISO-8859-1, I get the wrong characters…
But, if I set muxes to AUTO, then the characters are correct:
The only problem I have now is that the Gaeilge subtitles are not right (
It would be great to get the correct subtitles.
See picture below. The correct word is above the TVH subtitle.
just FYI, in Gaeilge the difference is not cosmetic.
These letters can change the meaning of the word.
For example:
Sean in Gaeilge means old in English.
Seán in Gaeilge means John in English.
Briste in Gaeilge means broken in English.
Bríste in Gaeilge means trousers in English.
