I am not able to update the system. Every time i click on scan for update I receive the the system shows a message downloading update and then the following error “connectivity issue while checking for update” comes and nothing happens as attached.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

reproduce the issue

upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the
Log Uploader
method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or thessh
method invoking commandgrab-logs -A

Your last update was on 2020-12-25. You can not update from such an old Version. Do a backup via MyOSMC and then you would need to reinstall latest version and restore the backup.
