Hi running a raspberry pi 3 with osmc and after latest update im getting the undervoltage warning symbol in top right corner… I using a proper raspi cable and its been fine until now also tried another quality cable with the same result… Strangely it goes away when playing any video… Any help appreciated and can it be disabled.
If you’re seeing the symbol it means there is a low voltage condition. The Raspberry Pi firmware on some previous releases had a bug that prevented the symbol appearing when it should. So your problem was always there but the symbol wouldn’t have been appearing.
Disabling the warning is not recommended as it is there for a good reason.
thanks for the reply what would be your advise change the power cable or the raspi itself. I have just changed the unit from a pi2 to a pi3 so hope its the cable thanks again.
The Pi is fine. The power supply side is the problem (which includes the supply and the cable). You did not say which supply you are currently using? It will need to be rated at least 2000 mA, and even up to 2500 mA for the Pi3. Then you will need a good quality cable connecting it to the Pi (to limit voltage drop over the cable itself).
thanks again ordered new official pi supply cable to do the job much abliged.
In addition to the cable, are you sure the supply itself is up to the task? Is it rated to at least 2000 mA continuous?
I just saw the flashing light today. Thanks for the info, I had no idea why it was there.
Yep i’ve seen that today when i was compiling a new build from master. Good to know what that symbol was!
Thought it was just a graphical glitch at first.
