What exactly is glitching?
I’d suggest posting a log so we can see what is going on. Perhaps the issue is not power supply related.

Thanks Sam.
Glitching is intermittent (but otherwise very common) freezing / stuttering and the occasional visual decoding glitch such as a block of the screen displaying different colours and blocky / garbled imagery.
The Vero V can go for weeks playing perfectly, and then not work properly for weeks, this cycle continues.
Similar issues playing a different file. Note that playing the same files from an Apple TV in the same stack is fine.

Hi Paul,
This doesn’t really tell us a lot, so I checked the full log.
Please change resolution to 1080p and Adjust Refresh Rate to Always as a test and try play Barry Lyndon again.
Your log shows:
2025-08-03 13:19:04.478 T:3050 debug <general>: CFileCache::Process - </mnt/tyrellcorp_movies/Barry.Lyndon.1975.CC.iNTERNAL.BluRay.2160p.UHD.REMUX.HEVC.10bit.DV.DTS-HD.MA.5.1-Aisha.mkv> cache completely reset for seek to position 29524588415
Change the settings as suggested above and also check for potential bandwidth issues on /mnt/tyrellcorp* share.
Cheers
Sam
If you still have issues, it might be worth us splitting this thread out as this certainly doesn’t look like a power supply issue.
Sam
Agreed. Moved to:
Quick update on my issue. I took the low road for complexity and switched to wired LAN from wireless (just following a hunch) and I haven’t had a single hang in the last 3 weeks (instead of frustratingly one every 2-3 days before). I’ll keep an eye on it but if it is power related it might be worth looking at the wireless subsystem or chipset for power drain.
That’s interesting, I kept having issues even after I replaced my wall psu a year back, and it got worse during summer time (hotter). I finally hooked up oscilloscope and noticed the 3.3v and 5v rail being very unstable, especially close to wifi chip. I got rid of my problems after soldering a few extra capacitors on 5v and 3.3v rail. I never mentioned this since its a definite void of warranty lol ![]()
FWIW: I use a few devices with WiFi daily. I haven’t seen thermals change based on that.
You already voided warranty when you put a custom heatsink on the board (from memory), so not sure why you haven’t mentioned soldering additional capacitors until now. I would be interested in your findings, although with it not being a vanilla board anymore they may be moot.
Doubt it is power related or you’d see an onset of issue before 2-3 days. I’m aware of an issue with ASUS and UniFi APs that can cause a hang on certain conditions over time. Hoping to have a solution in a couple of weeks but it’s hard to reproduce and I can’t seem to pin when/why it happens yet.
Sam
I’m on Asus so that would explain it. It’s not over time though, it’s every couple of days with high bitrate content, and the hang is a complete lockup, can only be fixed by powering off and on.
Try adjust channel width.
I think there will be a firmware update for UniFi soon.
It’s set to 20/40/80 for 5Ghz and 20/40 for 2.4Ghz. What’s the recommended setting please?
Hi @all,
I remeber that I’ve swapped the power supply of my vero 4k back in times.
Now I’m waiting for my new vero V and I wonder, if I can use the power supply that I already have.
My vero is living in a lowboard under a drawer, and it would be nice if I could only unplug the vero 4k and plug in the vero 5, without needing to crawl around in the lowboard to get the power supply out an d the new one in… ![]()
Yes you can use a power supply from a Vero 4K to power a Vero V. Do note that the Vero V is supplied with a higher current PSU so by doing this you will have a bit lower limit on how much power that can be drawn from any connected USB devices.
Thank you for your response.
I don’t have USB devices on my vero, just ethernet, HDMI and the power supply.
However, when the vero v needs more power than the vero4k, I’ll have to check the power supply I’m currently using anyway and will probably chamge it. ![]()
