Looks good to me and all up to date.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I’ve been also having problems with updates on Vero4k+. Even when i got Vero4k+, it wouldn’t properly update or install plugins from Kodi. If i downloaded the updates and plugins manually, it would install them without a problem.
I tried reinstalling the OS but the problem persisted. It would take a couple of tries to even get services like transmission to enable from the OSMC menu. Once they were enabled, they worked without a problem.
My output from the update commands is this:

(I changed http to htp because of forum link restrictions).

I tried using the --fix-missing flag but the result is the same. Update in Kodi also fails and tells me to go to these forums.

Everything else apart from the updates and plugins install works without a problem.

I’m sure @sam_nazarko or some other osmc staffer will help you out

All the staffers seem to busy, so you’ll have to make do with a general dogsbody, I’m afraid. :wink:

It looks like the packages were somehow corrupted when downloaded, possibly due to a network problem.

I’d suggest you try the following from the command line:

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Let us know how you get on.

Got the same error even after using the clean command (changed the URLs again, because of forum restrictions).

I got an Raspberry PI 2 with OSMC on the same network and that one updates fine, so I doubt it would be any kind of network issues. Plus apart from updates and installing plugins, everything else that’s network based works fine (streams, web plugins, transmission, …) on Vero4k+.

If this is a new Vero4K+ and you’ve been having these problems from the beginning, it might be a hardware problem. However, I think the next steps should be:

  • Provide full logs - grab-logs -A
  • If the V4K+ is on cable, use a different cable, and choose a different port on the router.
  • If you’re on cable, try WiFi and see if the problem persists.

Yeah, I’ve been having these problems from the beginning, but kinda hoped it was a bug and future updates would fix it. I ordered Vero4K+ with one of the first batches, when it came out.

I tried using different cables and wireless, but had the same problem. The fact, that I had trouble turning on samba and transmission (worked only after a couple of tries), tells me that network isn’t the problem. I kinda suspect that the buffer is the issue, but find it strange, that it works well with all other stuff.

Just to double check. You’re getting this on wired and wireless? (You need to have disconnected the cable for it to be a true test of wireless.)

56,796 dropped packets is very high.

You need to repeat the update/dist-upgrade using WiFi and with the cable disconnected.

Thank you for the help, you figured out the problem.

I tried switching to wireless and the updates went through, but the addons still failed. The first time i tested it, I tried with install addons, but they failed since the packages were already downloaded from the attempt with wired. Now it went fine with wireless, since I deleted all the packages downloaded before.

I also forced 100 Mbps connection on switch and it also works now via wired. Seems the problem is with 1 Gbps setting it gets when auto-negotiation is on. Haven’t seen any such problem on other devices connected to the switch, but I’ll keep a lookout and try it out with another switch, if it works normally on 1 Gbps then.

Again, thanks for all the help. This has been bugging me for a while now and I’m glad I know the reason why it’s acting up.
