Utilize MySQL as Media Database

Hi together,
after finding that Kodi/OSMC basically seems the only solution to play MVC Filed really as 3D stream, I’m stuck in generating the media library.

MySQL-Server and Media Server is my central Home NAS (OMV based).
MySQL-Server is running. OSMC can access it.

Now two things I don’t really get:

  1. OSMC creates a DB in Version 107 - while the Kodi Desktop uses 116. WHY? Shouldn’t be both the same?

  2. As mentioned, OSMC creates the DB - if not allready existing - successfully, but How will OSMC fill it with the Media data? When I select “update Library” (German: "Bibliothek aktualisieren) nothing happens at all.

So I miss something here?
Unfortunately all the documentation of using MySQL as database for Kodi is not really helpfull

You are probably running a different version of Kodi on your computer than on OSMC. There will be a stable update to v18 on OSMC soon; for now you can run a nightly build if you wish
