I’ve been using my Vero 5 fine with my previous projector, but have just got a Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 projector and having some issues. To be fair this is presumably not Vero, but would like to report it to Valerion.
The 3D did not work in any modes, even though read online owners saying works fine with other media players. It did work with my Blu-ray player, just not Vero 5. Found a post on here that suggested copying and editing this file:
osmc@osmc:~$ cat /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/disp_cap_3d >/home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/disp_cap_3d
Now when used nano to edit it, it was blank. When added in the standard 3D resolution and formats, rebooted, was then able to play Framepacked 3D fine.
So does this mean the projector is not reporting EDID correctly? What is the proper solution to feedback to Valerion? Or what is Vero V expecting different when other media players are OK?
It seems to play HDR OK but the menu seems washed out. Is this also related to bad reporting through EDID?
I have the Max on order… hope this gets figured out… I’m sure it will as many have reported 3D looking great. And, Valerion uses the same h/w & similar s/w to my Hisense PX3-Pro. 3D works perfectly with Vero V on it.
Sorry, forgot to upload logs, here they are:

As regard to also running this command:
cat /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/rawedid
get this output string:
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
Yes. It’s not reporting any 3D capabilities. Is the firmware up to date?
Is this only when playing HDR? Is the GUI OK when the video stops?
It’s on the latest firmware. There is supposedly a new firmware coming this month. I’ve emailed Valerion, but at least can say there is something amiss with EDID reporting.
HDR - the GUI is washed out when first booted or after playing video. The thumbnails are also out of wack for DV titles. But they do play fine and the projector says it is HDR10, HDR10+ or DV when playing as logo pops up. So not a biggie, but odd. Presume I’m the first to try the Vero with this projector maybe.
I’ll update here if anything changes regarding firmware.
If you’ve set the GUI to the same resolution as the video you are playing this is expected. A fix is in the pipeline. Washed-out on boot is not expected. We’ll have a look at your log.
Profile 5 thumbnails will be way wrong. To fix that would be a big job.
The GUI is set at 1080p and the HDR watched was 4K. I’m not bothered about the thumbnails, it was just an observation and thought linked. Thanks.
On startup we see this in your log
[ 9.981470] hdmitx: video: Video output
Bit depth: 8-bit, Colourspace: YUV444
Colour range RGB: limited, YCC: limited
[ 9.981473] hdmitx: video: Gamut
Colorimetry BT709
Transfer SDR
That’s repeated a couple of times but with Bit depth: 10-bit. Nothing wrong there. I can’t see anywhere where you play a video in that log so can’t comment on that.
‘Washed out’ is what you get when sending limited-range video to a display that is expacting full-range. Can you check the settings on the PJ are not set to full-range?

That’s it, thank you. In the Inputs, HDMI was set to Auto. It has options of Auto, Standard Format, Enhanced Format, Enhanced(240Hz). So set it to Enhanced.
Thank you for helping. I’ll see what Valerion can do about the EDID issue and post here for others with this projector family once the firmware has surfaced.
Or… with any luck, one that is done for us one day by ffmpeg.
