Vero 4k+ and 1080i/50 issues

Having a problem playing 1080i 50hz files. Vero regularly goes into 1080i50 when playing the 50hz files but should be 1080p50 - resulting in shimmering. The Vero deinterlaces 1080i not the display doesn’t it?
Strangely switching off the display off and on but keeping the Vero switched on appears to then only use 1080p50.

Make sure you have the GUI and video setting correct:

We recommend people with 4K TV’s set their user interface (UI) to 1080p. Kodi’s UI is not optimized for 4K yet and this can put unnecessary demands on your device and can lead to a suboptimal picture quality, as well as potentially cause other issues.

The settings we recommend are as follows…

Settings>System>Display>Resolution> 1920x1080p
Settings>System>Display>Whitelist> (empty)
Settings>Player>Videos>Adjust display refresh rate> On start/stop

Some televisions may also need, or benefit from, the following being set…

System>Display>Force 4:2:2 colour subsampling> (enable)

With the above settings your UI will be output in Full HD and your 4K content will be output in 4K. If you have any doubt, feel free to upload some logs so we can verify that your settings are indeed correct.

What should happen is 1080i is output only if it’s selected as the GUI resolution. There’s no provision in Kodi for output to switch to 1080i depending on content.

If that’s not the case for you, please upload logs.

I didn’t set the 1080i display output and am using 1080p displays. Happened on two displays but I think it was the 3D MVC test build causing the issue. I ran an update and it seemed to do some update but the version number 2019.11-1 stayed the same. Would this have overwritten the 3D MVC build with the current standard build?

If so it’s no longer outputting at 1080i and always does 1080p50 with no issues, so far. I’ll keep testing.

I believe so. One for @tanio99.

If you did it with

sudo apt-get install --reinstall vero3-mediacenter-osmc

then you should be back to the normal build. If it happens again then please upload some logs.
