Maybe it’s a problem with the new kernel then?
I updated before I installed the new AVR…
Which kernel are you running?
Seems Giovanni_Garcea uses 10bit on his x3400 with the release kernel.
Damn, I got it.
While testing I disabled “Extended HDMI” mode on my Sony projector HDMI IN.
I tried again with “Extended HDMI” and 12 bit, no picture but when changing to 10 bit it now suddenly works!
So even when the AVR and Vero can do 12 bit and the TV or projector can not, it’s not playing at all.
I am fine with 10 bit, so thank you all for your help!
What model of Sony projector is this? Might help others in the future
Glad it works now
Sam
It’s a SONY VPL-VW260ES.
Looks like if I disable Kodi’s general menu in 4K, and use the 10bit,444, my UHD movies will play in 10 bit with no banding (although I’m not sure how to check whether it’s displaying 8 bit or 10 bit color on the WebOS interface - anyone with a LG OLED TV care to explain how you’re confirming?).
The 4K menu is a non-starter no matter what I do, but that’s ultimately okay because I flipped it back to the 1080p display and everything else seems to be working now.
I checked the 5 minute banding sample video as well and it looks like everything is now resolving correctly.
I’d recommend keeping the GUI at 1080p, as most TV’s have better upscaling than Kodi.
