Hi all, I’ve had am Vero 4K for a while now, many years of good service. I’ve recently had to change my AV Receiver after the old one blew up, switched to a Denon from a Marantz. Since the change I notice that all my Atmos files now show 5.1 tags (instead of Atmos), and during playback they show as PCM / Multi-Channel In and not Atmos at the Receiver end. My Denon supports all the formats, and is setup with an atmos-supported front heights speaker config.
I’ve had a read through of similar previous issues and the docs, so I’ve made sure I have “sync playback to display” off, “passthrough” on with all the various formats ticked, and I use a 7.1 speaker setup.
I have the 2nd one selected, and the same device selected in “Passthrough output device”. I can’t see why the default device is being used when I’ve explicitly selected the other one? Could be a red herring of course.
I have a Denon AVR 8500 and play atmos files perfectly well. If there is a configuration file I could share with you I am happy to do so, just might need a pointer as to how to do it.
Some interesting ideas here, but I don’t think they apply in this case.
The Vero looks to be unwilling to send any audio format other than PCM / Multichannel to the receiver. Because the receiver isn’t receiving audio in Atmos format, just Multichannel In, it never activates any Atmos handling behaviour at all. I have passthrough on, but it doesn’t actually passthrough properly for whatever reason.
I have a 7.1 setup, and as such the amp doesn’t present me with any virtualisation options (because I have all the real speakers for an atmos setup, no need to virtualise anything).
@mtv in your “Audio output device” options above - do you have two options? One being labelled “default”?
OK, many apologies but it’s started to work. I switched out the hdmi cable for a fresh one. Maybe when the old amp went bang it did some damage along the way, I’m not sure. Or it could be an obscure cable / amp issue that wasn’t there with the older Marantz. Many thanks for all the ideas!
