Still wondering if the Gbit component might degenerate over time and now, when playing a movie over lan, the component starts erroring after minutes of heavy duty?

You could run iperf3 for 10 minutes to see if it is stable.

I wonder if it is an issue with the Kodi NFS mounts. Maybe try a Kernel mount and see if problem goes away.

Mounting network shares with autofs (alternative to fstab)
