Vero 4k cant see my server

Just received my Vero 4k today and was excited to set it up, to replace my two other crappy android Kodi boxes.
Anyhow when I go to “add files” to show it where the server is, when I go browse to find the server, it cant find the network. So I put the server details in manually. It still cant find it.
I have gone into my router and looked for the VERO 4k there, and it shows up, with its designated ip address. I am at a loss at what to do next.
I have a static ip address for the Vero, and the router interface has confirmed thats correct. Its a Wired connection. And “browsing” has always worked on my various other Kodi setups.
Do I have to do a re install to fix this ???

Ok I just found the OSMC updates, and did all those. But when i browse for my network now, it can see all my network shares but when I go to add the share it says error Operation not allowed.

I fixed this by using the syntax, smb://user:password@SERVER/sharename/folder
as described here
