Vero 4k+ how to revert to Kodi Mar 2022 version

I am running Vero 4k+ with kodi 20.5

I want to install Mar 2022 version of Kodi.

I’m having issues with kodi 20.5 - efforts to get around this using info on the forums hasn’t worked

I have to keep pulling out Vero HDMI cable and Vero power lead for 30 mins to get osmc GUI to appear on TV again. Issues recur every few days. (Lindy HDMI CEC Less adaptor soltn. has not worked)

However I’m having trouble with reinstalling earlier Mar 2022 version which doesn’t have these problems.

I’m on a Mac (high sierra) - are any of the following steps wrong?

Download Mar 2022 version
https://ftp.fau.de/osmc/osmc/download//installers/diskimages/OSMC_TGT_vero3_20220314.img.gz

  • open it on Mac desktop

  • this then shows: OSMC_TGT_vero3_20220314.img

  • insert usb stick into Mac

  • using disk utilities I erase usb stick

  • using disk utilities I format usb stick FAT32

  • launch balenaEtcher - 3 part process

  • Flash from file > OSMC_TGT_vero3_20220314.img

  • Select target > usb stick

  • Flash > done

  • eject usb stick from Mac

  • pull power cord from Vero 4k+

  • insert usb stick

  • power lead back in to Vero

  • scrolling tiny white-on-black code on TV screen

  • blue osmc screen - logo in middle

  • NO reinstall procedure onscreen

  • TV just reverts to showing Kodi 20.5 osmc GUI as if nothing has happened

Am I making some basic mistake?

Have you tried the OSMC installer tool found in the download section from the menu on the top of this site? One of the screens gives an option to select an image that was manually downloaded. If that doesn’t work try another thumb drive. Some thumb drives do better booting than others.

Use the OSMC installer as suggested by @darwindesign.

Have you reported the HDMI issue? I’d suggest you use the latest version of OSMC. We should be able to work out what the issue is with some logs, but for now I’d also recommend enabling HPD Lock under Settings → Display and seeing if that helps.

Yes - tried OSMC installer but message ‘error occured whilst writing’ keeps coming up.

Already tried 4 usb sticks.
I have osmc_installer_log

Where should I upload it?

Tried OSMC installer but after a minute mesage comes up sayin ‘error’
I have osmc_installer_log but dont know where to post it/send it

Tried several usb sticks.

No joy with HPD Lock

Raised HDMI issue as below

My setup: LGOLED55E8PLA ARC socket (marked HDMI 2) goes to a Marantz NR1711 HDMI (marked ARC) socket. My Vero4K+ also goes into a Marantz HDMI socket (marked Media Player). I then link my external 2.5in HDD to Vero via USB. I only ever use Vero in library mode - I prefer to make my own artwork. This has all worked well for months. As per many other threads I started having regular CEC/ARC lockout issues of late when trying to use TV remote to switch between TV and Vero. Rebooting or pulling out the Vero HDMI cable fixes this temporariiy. I cant work out what optimum Vero peripherals settings might be for this issue. But … I want to see if using “Lindy HDMI CEC Less Adapter, Female to Male” helps. Elderly and confused question: where do I slot the Lindy? Do I put it into the Vero or into the TV? Can I then use standard HDMI cables to run from the adaptor? Have others had success with Lindy? Love using my Vero 4K+ and want to get this sorted.

Make sure you aren’t running the installer off the USB itself

Don’t think I’m running installer of USB.

Any more advice on reverting to kodi mar 2002 version?

Any more advice on my recurring ARC going dead/osmc GUI vanishing issues (workaround: pull out Vero & HDMI for 30 mins)?

Are you able to connect using ssh? If so post some logs (grab-logs -A) when the GUI disappears.

I think I can use ssh (Terminal on Mac) … I’ll brush up on it via the wiki and post when the Arc/GUI issue starts again

Trying to access command line ssh Terminal on Mac…

launch terminal

enter ssh osmc@myveroipaddress

asks for password

but no passwords work not ‘osmc’ not anything

Initially was getting

SSH connection refused

Can you connect before you get the ARC/GUI issue?

No

Is the ssh server installed and enabled (in MyOSMC)?

yes ssh intalled but I cannot access it

I have run
ssh-keygen -R
to clear old stuff

After that: CDSA key fingerprint is <new long string code?
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?

put in yes

then asked for password
osmc@password:

insert password - “osmc”
‘Permission denied, please try again.’

So cannot access ssh anymore - not sure password is correct

You can try this to reset the password.
@joakim_s I assume that is still latest solution?

Might need to adjust the addon to the latest kodi version, let me know and i’ll fix id.

Worked great! Many thanks.

How can i grab logs of issues from terminal

How do I use

grab-logs -A

just type that and let us know the URL that’s returned.

I have to do this first right?

Before uploading any logs, you should ensure that Debugging is enabled in Kodi.

This can be done by going to Settings → System → Logging → and selecting Enable Debugging.

You should then perform a reboot of your device twice and perform only the minimum actions required to replicate this issue so that it is easy to identify the cause of the problem.

Yes. Just do that first so we can see your setup then grab logs again when you get a blank screen (without rebooting).
