It’s only NFS that’s hanging. I was able to add my NAS via SMB. That will work for now. Is NFS preferred? If not, will leave as-is.
Preferred is what makes you happy, NFS normally would be more performant but if SMB works no worries.
But I am still not convinced you have a clean update.
