Vero 4K+ remote issues

For a few days now I’ve been having issues with my remote (the original one that came with the Vero).
Started with button presses not registering every now and then and gradually getting worse. Now it barely registers any anymore. Basically unusable.

Don’t know where the problem is. The blue light on the remote correctly flashes with each button press, but I still tried to change the battery despite only getting the remote a month ago. Didn’t change anything. Tried re-pairing it with the USB dongle several times, but didn’t help either. Could be the dongle or the remote.

I can still control the Vero with my smartphone no problem. Any solutions?

What battery did you replace it with?
Is it a new battery?

It sounds like the battery you have replaced it with may be flat

I got the Vero a month ago, so the battery that came with it must have still be fine.
But just to make sure, I bought a new battery yesterday and replaced it with that. Still doesn’t work.

Can you show me a picture of the battery packaging?

I started to have the same issue! I replaced the battery and it didn’t change anything.

I noticed in journalctl -f that the USB keeps getting disconnected:

Once it resets, I can move the menu, but then it starts a reset loop again and I can’t press anything!

Sure thing. Here you go:

Same here. Swapped battery, tried to resync it as Sam suggested and nothing from it.

Have you tried it in a different device or on the other USB port?

Okay. Are these new batteries? The reason I ask is because we are a battery replacement service lately. It’s been a while since we replaced an actually defective remote.

Ping support@osmc.tv for return details

Sam

If you don’t even see the blue light, I’d check the battery you replaced.

That’s the thing, I definitely do see the blue light correctly on every button press. The batteries are definitely new as well.
Just tried the other USB port and my PC. Same behaviour.
Must be either the remote or the USB dongle.

Can you upload a log with the dongle attached?

Sure thing. Here you go.

Thank you very much.

Can you try re-pairing with it connected to the computer?
Failing that – please contact support@osmc.tv and we can arrange for a replacement

Sam

I just unplugged my USB external enclosure, from the other USB port, and swapped it with the remote, and it was working for a little bit, but then I got this again:

Mar 10 13:24:01 petitbox kernel: usb 1-2: USB disconnect, device number 6
Mar 10 13:24:02 petitbox kernel: usb 1-2: new low-speed USB device number 7 using xhci-hcd

I then removed the external USB drive and have not been able to get it to happen again.

Is the external USB drive externally powered?
There may not be enough power for the attached peripherals.

Sam

The external USB is externally powered.

Can you test without the drive for a while?
If you experience no issue, then there may be an interaction between the disk and receiver.

Sure, I can do that. I’ll let you know.
