VERO 4K, VERY LOUD External Hard Drive

I own a Vero 4K and have a 16TB Seagate hard drive plugged into it via USB.
When I play files from it using the VERO the drive ‘clicks’ VERY loudly.
It runs silent if used on my MAC.
My previous external drive was only 8TB and it was silent when used in the same way.

This drive is inside a ‘sound proofed’ cupboard and can still be heard ‘thudding’ when the TV volume is quite loud.
This 16TB drive is a replacement for another Seagate 16TB Expansion Drive that did the exact same thing, so I’m wondering if I should be replacing it with say a WD 16TB (would that run near-silent?) as this level of noise is surely incorrect. It’s certainly distracting!
Can audio be uploaded here?

Anyone else got or had a similar problem?

Would a WD drive run quieter, or do I even need a VERO+?

Cheers!

Does this hdd have its own power supply unit?

I had a similar problem with an old 3TB WD hard drive, the acoustic coupling with the wood of the cabinet led to extremely annoying noise.
I solved the problem with three spikes and two cut rubber mats (you can get the mat (1m²) for little money in the hardware store; it is actually intended as a damping device for washing machines).

^ This.
Your “cupboard” is most likely resonating and amplifying the noise.

Hi, Yes, it has its own power supply.

The interior set up of my cupboard is a little similar to yours.

I have a foam insulated wooden box that holds the HDD and that’s placed inside the cupboard which is also foam and polystyrene insulated.

And yet still…!

Nope. The HDD was making all this noise before I decided to place it inside of the cupboard.

So, yes, try to place a .wav or .mp3 audio file, here. I’m just curious what sound your hdd produces … but I think there is nothing we can do from the OSMC side. Others are welcome to make suggestions for quiet external 16 TB hdds.
