Vero 4K - Video stop after few second

Hi Everyone,

New user of the vero 4K and very happy for now

But I experience some issues…
When playing some files, video just stop after few second.

Setup:
Video are stored on my NAS and accessed via SMB share. Everything is connected via Ethernet cables, so no wifi here.
I can play 1080p video without any problem using the same so it is not a network issue as the video that doesn’t want to play are in 480p. Probably problem with the codec?
I can play the file on my laptop with vlc without any issue.

Here is an extract of the log when video is crashing:

Any idea on how what is the issue and how to solve it?

Thanks in advance.

Eric

Can you upload the full debug log?
Are you using SMB?

Sam

Yes I’m using SMB.
You can find the complete log here: DEBUG LOG OSMC - Pastebin.com

Thanks

Eric

Hi,

What have you got max smb protocal set to? Its under settings, services, smbclient, will need to change settings to advanced or export.

Thanks Tom.

Hi Tom,

Max protocol version is set to smbv3.
I have this problem only with some file. I was able to read a video 1080p stored on the same smb share without any issue today.

Thanks Eric

Try it at SMBV2.

Same problem :frowning:

Hi,

You could try SMBv1, but potential security issues with this.

What are Smb version on the server?

Thanks Tom.

Server is a synology ds214 play with latest update. It accepts smbv1 and 2.
With smbv1 it is working fine… I’m not a big fan of this workaround as this is potential security issue indeed.
Do you have an idea why smbv2 cause trouble?
I’ll try with NFS tomorrow see if it is better.

Thanks Eric

Hi,

I believe there is an issue with samba within kodi, my understanding is that kodi is looking into this.

Thanks Tom.

P.S

I’m using NFS with no issues, if your nas supports it; I would recommend NFS

NFS is always a better choice over SMB, since NFS is native linux.

Okay, let’s go for NFS then

Thanks a lot everyone for fast reply and efficient support :muscle:
