Don’t use both at the same time. Try with just the barrel connector and if that doesn’t work try just using the USB.
It doesn’t work with one one them. Just get red light. The only difference is the red light is more bright on USB power.
Have you tried with the original adapter again? When using the USB, what are you using for a power supply?

A quick charge 3 adapter, 5V 2.5A, 9V 2A.
That should be good, as long as it’s consistent. The problem with many chargers is they are not designed to power a device, they are designed to charge a battery.
Also, have you tried the other USB port?

Since it seems to sorta work with both power supplies connected tells me that your Quick Charge adapter is not really supplying it’s advertised rating. It’s probably dropping the voltage when under a load.
I would not recommend using a 9V power supply. This could damage the device.
Made an A to A cable myself and it seems working now.
You likely just need a new PSU then.
