Searched here and saw similar problems, but not this one(?). Am using a new (April? 2016) VERO and the supplied black remote.
Since 2016.06-1 update - persists in 2016.06-2:
occasionally the response to remote presses is slow, like the CPU is busy for a couple of seconds, then a subsequent press after a couple of seconds will work as intended.
Occasionally (1 time in 20?) the action is repeated -like a key stuck- Pressing another key stops the repeating action.
What are you doing when this happens? If you are running lots of background applications, like a Torrent client etc, then this happens when the system gets slightly bogged down. If you let me know about your workload we may be able to optimise things to perform better under these conditions.
Is the remote receiver located in the rear USB port?
I’ve experienced what I think is the same problem. I didn’t report it, because I just recently got my Vero 2 and my first experience was with the 06-2 version.
I’m not running anything in the background as far as I know (I’ve only installed a few add-ins like SOMA FM, LiveEurope radio, ARTE and a subtitle scraper).
The USB receiver is plugged in on the side with the 3 usb ports. The receiver is facing towards the room.
Suggest you plug it into the rear USB and see if that solves your issue. Please report back. If issue still exists after you plug it into the back please provide logs. Please see How to submit a useful support request - General - OSMC for advice on how to help us.
No other processes running, OSMC play from “Samba” shares only. The delay is most noticeable on a folder open or on the end of a video play. An RPi3, in the same configuration never shows this behavior.
Dongle was in the rearmost side port—will move to the rear USB port.
Your USB receiver should be in the rear port. This should improve the remote performance.
Regarding 1) – if this after a period of inactivity, it’s probably due to the CPU governor and there being a slight delay bringing the CPU back up again. Switching CPU governor could be useful in checking this.
Nonetheless, first thing I would do is put the receiver in the right place.
Put the remote dongle in the back USB port and all has been well since. Turned logging on but no incidents in two hours of testing and watching so turned it off.
Turn off the device and put the USB disk in the side and receiver in the rear port. Everything should be fine then. Let me know if this is not the case.
