Vero V after 2 months

So Far I do like the platform. Some issues (possibly self inflicted)
Skin: Aeon Nox Silvo
Seems a bit heavy for the unit.
Occasional crash when loading menu from 3rd party app using trakt.

Black screen if play next or stop is not selected at end of show.

Occasional crash with HDR streams above 5-6 gig. (Freeze and stutter audio).

Cannot get MPAA ratings to display

Seems like a capable unit even with these hinderances which I assume will work themselves out over time.
I have used Kodi since it was XBMC so pretty familiar.
I got the vero when my Win PC PS died recently because I wanted to upgrade to HDR and Dolby capabilities.
I enjoy the vero for the size and capability! But it will move to a bedroom.
I am looking into building an android based box with more guts (ram and internal fast storage). For my main room I enjoy much heavier skins like Aeon MQ which I have been using for years with all the bells and whistles.
Seems like there are very few options for this (if any) and its a bit confusing at this time. My Kodi file was 60 gig on my win machine with 8gig of ram and handled things well except it was not HDR Dolby capable. I like the OSMC style dedicated OS without the bloat of a big Win type os. Any suggestions on my comments appreciated.

If you are getting crashes, we need to see some logs to advise.

Are you on Wifi or wired?

Wifi at this time with 1 gig service.
Do not seem to have any problems with smaller file streams under 5gig

Thank you for your reply.
I have the same problem, with video freezing and audio looping, but only on Wifi, and i know that it is being looked into, but it seems to be a hard one to fix. You can try with Ethernet if you can, and see if that helps on freezing problem.

Logs showing the issue really are needed, but the first troubleshooting step is always to put the file on a USB stick and try playing it from there. That eliminates the entire network from the equation. If it still stutters there, that’s a helpful clue. If it doesn’t, then all we can say right now is it’s something on the network side.

Just want to chip in and say I use Aeon Nox Silvo on the Vero 4k+ and I don’t have any issues with it, also using multiple widgets, so I don’t think that’s the issue.

I would take a close look at the addons you have installed. There are a depressing number of them which can cause memory leaks. SSH into the vero and run “top” and take a look at the memory being used by the kodi.bin process. If you see it going 30/40/50% of memory, (and not jumping back to 10-15% when it’s idle), then that means some addon that you have installed is not releasing the memory, and it eventually will run out and start struggling, and eventually hang.

Thanks guys,
Have not had much time to deal with this last days with year end… But have some time in the next few days.
I see some good trouble shooting suggestions and have formulated a path of further testing using the KISS method first. New to OSMC so learning my way around that a bit. Not new to Kodi. Not much of a techie, but looked under the hood on win based systems and edited lines in apps that sorted out Issues before. The communities for my different projects in life are definitely a friend of mine!
Thank you for the suggestions. I will be back with an update. Feel free to continue to comment.

Seem to be making progress. Disabled everything added and testing one app, service and dependency at a time.
When I got the V, i installed most everything I was running on my Win Box Kodi. I am finding a more curated approach is yielding more satisfying results.
Even with working out things previously mentioned is ongoing, I am working building out the full package of capabilities. I got simple client up and running (well). I am very pleased with is operation on the V5. Will soon upgrade network with an NAS and wired to all devices and getting away from Win OS and sticks.

As said before, the biggest take away so far is the OS itself and deeper is Linux platform. I am setting up a edu Linux pc for my young son today as his first PC. Both of us will learn a few things . I will be lurking other forums here being a old win tweakier. I found an interesting mITX board very expandable for Debian and possible OSMC project that is just coming out.
