Vero V crashes after plugging in the 4 Port USB 3.0 Powered Hub

I’ve been using Vero V with a single external SSD connected via USB and it works perfectly :+1:

To add a new SSD I tried plugging in this product: 4 Port USB 3.0 Powered Hub - OSMC with two external SSDs connected to it. It worked for a few minutes, then Vero V crashed. Now when I plug it in it crashes instantly.

Can I get some help with this?

If you remove the other SSD do things work as expel?

Sam

Now I simply plugged in the hub without any SSDs connected to anything and it still crashed.

Does it recover after the crash?
Can you upload logs?
Have you tried both USB ports on the Vero?
Do you have the powersupply plugged into the Hub?

Does it recover after the crash?

No, I have to restart it (by unplugging it).

Can you upload logs?

Happily, where can I find them?

Have you tried both USB ports on the Vero?

Yes.

Do you have the powersupply plugged into the Hub?

Yes.

Maybe not much we can find if you have to unplug but still might show something

To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here

Thanks for your understanding. We hope that we can help you get up and running again shortly.

Thank you for your help. I followed your instructions, here are the logs: https://paste.osmc.tv/ozoqagejib

I crashed the device by plugging in the hub 3 times, once around 16:42, once at 16:51 and once at 16:52. After the first crash I unplugged the Vero to restart, but after the second two crashes it restarted automatically right away.

udisks-part-id /dev/sda': Input/output error

My wild guess is that the power supply of the USB Hub is failing to provide enough power (degraded).

My wild guess is that the power supply of the USB Hub is failing to provide enough power (degraded).

So what can I do?

Either try another power supply that has the same plug and outputs the same voltage, or else try a different powered hub altogether.
