Hi Sam
New V5 arrived and works perfectly and very happy. Shame we never found out what was wrong with the other but it would have been interesting.
Just a note to others though if restoring a backup from a V4k+, you will need to spend some time refreshing movies in the database. They don’t always come across properly if your file naming conventions are a little quirky. You may also have to apply the hotfix to get around the miniature 4k renditions due to resolution settings. This is talked about in another thread.
Apart from that its very slick and I can now get continuing upgrades.
Thanks Sam and all.
Cheers

Hello Sam, I have just experienced the same problem with my Vero V. After a power outage it just doesn’t come back on. The blue light comes on then it goes off just as it usually does but Kodi just doesn’t come on. My power supply measures 5.1 v and 2.1 amp and it is protected by a Monster Power protector so there is no way that the power supply would have been damaged by the power outage. I also can’t see Kodi on the network using SSH.
Looks like my OSMC Vero V is bricked. It was purchased on Nov 16, 2024 and the invoice ID is WCH-66281. Let me know if you need more info such as the Transaction ID.
Hi
The light is meant to come on and then turn off a couple of seconds later.
I doubt the device is bricked and suspect it is still functional.
Have you tried re-installing OSMC?
If your device is connected to your network, does it show up on your router’s status page?
Sam
Hello Sam,
Just found out last night that the problem was caused by my Sony Amplifier. Just connected my OSMC directly to the TV and router and it is working just fine. Sorry for the hassle.
However, I can’t seem to get my remote to work, is there a way to get that fixed. I changed the battery so perhaps that has something to do with the problem. I also held the Home and the OK buttons for a few seconds and that did not fix the problem.
Andre
Thanks,
Andre
Hi Andre,
Could you please check how the lights blink on the remote.
Do you see any light blink when you press a button on the remote?
Cheers

Hi Sam,
When I thought that I was having a problem with the OSMC I had replaced the battery of the remote which was just below 3 v with a new one measuring around 3.20 v. I just checked the battery and it now measured around 1.25 v and when pushing any buttons on it there was no blue light showing. I now put another new battery into the remote control and at first a blue light was shining continuously in front of the remote which I realized was not normal so I double checked to see if the battery was connected properly with the negative side facing down into the remote which it was so I took the battery out again and reinstalled it one more time and now it is working properly with the blue light turning on when pressing any of the remote buttons. It is also now working with the OSMC as normal. I also remember when I changed the battery the first time that the blue light in front of the remote was also continuously on which is obviously why the battery was worn out within a couple of days or less. Do you have any information as to why the blue light on the remote would be staying on continuously even when the battery is installed properly?
Thanks again for your help.
Andre
Hi Andre,
Does the blue light flicker at all or is it solid on?
If it’s only solid on when you press a button then it sounds like it isn’t paired.
But from you say, it sounds like the remote is working when the battery voltage is good? Can you confirm this?
When it is working, do you witness random button presses?
The only thing I can think of that would cause the light to be on solid would be some debris causing a button to be fully pushed down. Try pushing each button with a bit of force to work out any debris.
Hi Sam,
The remote is now working just fine with a new battery. The problem I had was when I installed the new battery, the blue light was on non stop with no flickering and without me touching any buttons. I then took the new battery out and reinstalled it again and the problem went away. So not sure what was causing the problem but now everything is working fine.
Glad to hear this. Be careful not to damage remote contacts when removing batteries and never use a sharp object. Even a butter knife can damage the contacts.
