Vero V locks hard, and WiFI

Hey guys,

I have noticed 2 issues with my Vero V.

  1. with the new TV, I had to place the vero at a different location, hence change from Ethernet to WiFi.
    This causes movies with high bitrates to stutter as it seems to run out of cache.
    Hoowever, if I go to WiFi settings, disable WiFi, and re-enable WiFi it is fine (AP is literally 4 m in line of sight).
    AP has 5 and 2,4Ghz using the same SSID, roaming enabled and fast transition too.
    IT seems, that on first boot, the vero V connects to the far away AP hence the connection is very bad (all AP’s have roaming and are available under the same SSID)
    Is there a way for me to force him onto the new AP?
  2. When playing back movies in high bit-rate (I have 4 Blue–Ray releases of Avatar and ripped the extended master super duper to a 100Gbyte file). After around 30 minutes, the VeroV locks hard. No nothing. No information in the logs regarding that etc.
    Using low

Any chance you could have a look at the logs please?

Sadly, debug logging was not on when you had the crash. If the on-screen info annoys you, you can add this in advancedsettings.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<advancedsettings>
        <loglevel>1</loglevel>
        <debug>
                <showloginfo>false</showloginfo>
        </debug>
</advancedsettings>

In 9 years of playing with Kodi, I’ve never found a use for that on-screen info. No idea why it defaults to on.

right. Made a new one - and caused the crash to happen: https://paste.osmc.tv/uduxonoces

Thing I found a way to bind the Vero V to a 5Ghz network.

There’s a lot going on while you are playing that file. Audio keeps getting restarted for one. I don’t know quite what to make of it. Is it just Kodi that locks up (ie can you still ssh in)?

???

The 2 last times, it was a hard crash. Nothing responding. This time, I was busy and it came back (watchdoog or so must have kicked in).
Also, with 5Ghz it seems to have gone through. Will check to see if it happens again.

FYI - for 5Ghz network, I created a slave-inerface with a dedicated SSID for the media player. Only SSID it can connect to. Advantage of using Mikrotik routers/AP’s :slight_smile:
