Vero V remote not pairing after update

I don’t mean to fork the topic. I have been using my Vero for years and I like it enough I bought several to give as gifts. I trust the product and I’ve been using OSMC/xbmc since the original xbox.

I ran the most recent update without question. Turns out that update appears to be what borked the remotes of some fellow forum users.

I thought it was the battery. I tried several button cells. The remote is functional, the light comes on and I have no reason to doubt that it still works. The Vero no longer responds to it - no matter what I do.

I have not opened up the device and relocated the remote receiver, I’ve been using other means to control the device. I would far rather be using the remote that came with the Vero because I’ve got muscle memory for it after all this time. Using a keyboard and mouse or other remote device just makes me feel clumsy and inept trying to do the same things I’ve done with the Vero for years.

What are the chances there will be another update to patch this issue?

Hi @alphab0t - sorry to hear about your issue. I’ll let Support (Sam) respond to this officially, but I believe for most of us who’ve had the problem, it’s not s/w but h/w which has failed.

It’s just coincidence that virtually all of us encountered this as a direct result of applying an update. There have been some recent fails after applying the May update, & others have occurred after previous updates. It may be that the process itself is putting extra load / power through the unit, & exposing the the failure, so it cannot be resolved by a software fix. I hope Sam manages to get your issue resolved though :crossed_fingers:
