Vero V remote woes [SOLVED]

Just unpacked my new Vero V. The player itself seems to be working, but I’m having trouble with the remote.

I started by taking off the remote battery cover, removing the plastic tab, replacing the cover, and then holding OK and Home for 6 or 7 seconds. Nothing: no LED light. Wondered if the (new!) battery might be flat, so tried a different battery. Still nothing. Decided to try the battery from the new remote in my old Vero 4K+ remote. Held home and OK; LED light turned on. So it’s not a battery problem. But the Vero 4K+ remote won’t pair with the Vero V. Tried plugging in the USB dongle from my Vero 4K+ as well, and now the old remote does pair and seems to be working, but I’d rather get the new one working and have both USB ports free if that’s an option.

Does it sound like the remote that came with the Vero V is DOA?

Nicolas,

As soon as your name came up, I held your order back to check everything thoroughly as you’ve ordered before and have been quite quite critical. You indeed got a VIP treatment and I checked your device and remote well before dispatch personally.

My suggestion is just to return everything for a full refund.

Come on, Sam: I have an issue, and I am asking for your help in troubleshooting it. That’s not so very contentious, is it? It may very well be user error; I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking! If you have personally tested the remote and verified that it works, before putting the plastic tab under the battery, then that’s great, it saves us some diagnostic time. What else might be causing the issue?

Remote was tested, re-attached tab to stop battery drain in transit.
The whole exercise was to avoid a complaint.

No clue. If it does not work… it doesn’t work? I don’t know what else to suggest but a return.

You have changed the battery and it still does not work.

Different design – a 4K/4K+ remote will not pair with Vero V and that is expected behaviour.

You can return the remote for replacement. I will check it out and replace it, or you can return the whole unit which I suggest you do.

@angry.sardine Hi, here are a few more low-hanging fruits that could be causing the remote control to not work:

The negative battery contacts are slightly bent upward (I estimate 0.5 mm).

The positive battery contacts protrude slightly above the black plastic frame (also estimated 0.5 mm).

The battery should be inserted correctly.

When handling the battery, wear insulating gloves if possible to avoid electrical discharge through potentially moist skin.

If this is all fine, I agree that this remote looks to be dead if no blue light is shown with a fresh battery.

In my case, after unpacking Vero V, remote didnt pair. LED on remote was on, but I tried to change battery. Then it worked. Original battery was half-dead and after change I discovered that LED on remote can be twice as bright as it was before.

Sorry to hear that, do you have an order number. I’d like to look in to this

Cheers

LED on remote? What LED??

There is a blue LED on the remote controller.

You have to look at the front.
It’s behind the IR window and you can’t really see the LED unless a button is pushed and it lights up blue.

My understanding is that things are now working for you with the supplied remote.
