Vero4K+ & Denon AVR odd issue

Since updating to the latest Kodi 21.1 builds from OSMC on my Vero4K+ my Denon AVR has randomly (and in a non reproducible way) started to open up the audyssey setup menu on the AVR.

It’s never done this before, and the only thing that’s changed is the OSMC version that’s running (amp firmware hasn’t updated or anything like that)

If I wanted to open the same menu myself, I’d have to get my avr remote, click “setup” on the remote, and navigate to the Audyssey settings.

This menu pops randomly while watching content, but, if i skip back in the content and play the scene again it doesn’t happen.

It’s very strange, I assume it’s in no way the vero’s fault, but… also wtf?

Which version did you update from?

Can you try power everything off at the mains for ten minutes?

I don’t see how the Vero would be able to do that. There is no CEC option for that function, and if your using a universal remote it wouldn’t have anything to do with OSMC. I’d suggest to try doing a soft reset of your AVR. This option keeps your settings but it somehow seems to fix oddities that even a hard power reboot doesn’t. On most models it is accomplished by holding down the power button for something like ten seconds and you should have some blinky light action to let you know that it did something. If holding the power button doesn’t do the trick on your model you should be able to just do a web search for your model number and “soft reset” to find how it works for your model.

Sam - the version before (whatever it was, I’m assuming 20.x?) it’s always kept up to date.

@darwindesign - that’s what I honestly thought too - I couldn’t see a way that it could cause it either.

It’s very strange - i’ll try a soft reboot (see if the Denon has one) - as I’ve tried powering everything off at the wall for a day already :frowning:

depending on which Denon avr you have, you can usually back up all your settings and save off to usb

That issue seems to happen more frequently with Denon devices, see https://www.avsforum.com/threads/denon-avr-2309-unprompted-and-random-auto-audyssey-calibration.3207098/.

On most Denon AVRs you have the option to lock the setup.

See e.g. Setup Lock AVR-X2700H

Setup Lock protects settings from inadvertent change but also prevents unwanted calibration.

It will stop Audyssey from random engaging.
