Vero4K+ do not detect all resolutions on my new soundbar

Hi,

Long time user of OSMC on RPI3 the move to the Vero4k+ was obvious. However I’m in trouble with my new TV/soundbar setup, it seems 1080p24Hz is not an option if the Vero is hooked directly on the soundbar. The interface is configured in 1080p60Hz and the switch occur with 2160p24Hz w/o problem (see later why).
Connected to the TV, no problem the interface is well in 1080p60Hz and switch to the content refresh rate. This happens only with 1080p24Hz file, not 2160p24Hz (the option to adjust refresh rate is on start/stop). A full imaging (USB method) of the Vero with the October update do not change the behaviour.

The soundbar: Samsung HW-Q990b
The TV: Samsung S95B

Hooked to TV I miss DTS content (no pass-through, you know the drill), and to the soundbar the stutter coming with refresh rate not adjusted. If put back my old RPI3 with OSMC 18.9 on the soundbar it works! I’m able to have the expected behaviour, switching to the correct refresh rate depending of the media. So the soundbar is well capable of it.
Important: the RPI3 is hooked to another TV with a captured EDID,

May the Vero not detect all possible resolution?

what can I try to fix it? Capture the EDID of the TV and hook it back to the soundbar?if So what the procedure with a Vero? I hope there is a better way however.

Hi,

If you could upload full logs – there may be some clues as to what’s going on.

In the worst case scenario: we can add those resolutions manually or override the EDID, but if there’s something that needs fixing, that’s the better option.

Hello @sam_nazarko ,

Here are the logs https://paste.osmc.tv/oyedapipib
I hope it will help

EDIT: here are the missing modes, I excluded the 120Hz as the soundbar can only output 60Hz max
1080p24hz
1080p25hz
1080p30hz

I have no idea why those modes are excluded from the EDID. Vero is reporting exactly what the soundbar is telling it. You can make a file /home/osmc/.kodi/userdata/disp_cap with the following contents:

480p60hz
576p50hz
720p50hz
720p60hz
1080p24hz
1080p25hz
1080p30hz
1080p50hz
1080p60hz
2160p24hz
2160p25hz
2160p30hz
2160p50hz
2160p60hz*

See if that restores the missing modes. Don’t bother with the smpte modes or VESA modes although you could add 2560x1440 if it helps with on-line content.

Dear @grahamh,

It works!!! I tried on multiple 1080p23.xx and 1080p24 and the soundbar passes the image and sound as expected

Vero>soundbar>TV with this change
