Vero4K - missing audio codec?

This did not work - rebooted too for good measure.

Interesting - so toggling “Stereo Upmix” fixes the no GUI and this show’s sounds issue. I dont think I had ever toggled this previously.

To confirm this, I also moved one of the raspberry pi’s to the main media room and hooked it up through the AV receiver. This option is not toggled and all audio plays fine.

While this does seem to be a workaroud, there is still something very strange going on with the Vero.

@luken8628 Have you tried the audio settings

  • keep audio alive (always)
  • send low volume noise

What happens if you activate those features?
Do you want to tell us your AVR brand and model?

Question reagrding your settings: You activated at GUI->Settings->Player->Videos the feature “Sync playbackup to display” which is quite unusual. Is this intended and what is/was the reason?

@JimKnopf

I have since disabled this setting (was active when I pulled logs, and has not had any affect on the issue being discussed). I mistakenly had toggled it thinking that having it set ensured that the refresh rates between Kodi, my content and my TV were all synced.

My AVR is a Yamaha RX-V677

I will test these settings for you later, but know I never had to toggle those previously.

Have you tried holding down the power button on your AVR for 10 seconds?

I have not - I am 95% sure its not a problem with the AVR since a RPi running the same version of osmc hooked to the same HDMI, Input, etc. works and plays sound properly.

I’d also prefer to not factory reset it (assuming thats what this does).

If this does not factory reset, I’d be open to try.

Edit: I’ll also add the AVR responds normally, switches input, plays movie sound and other TV show sound properly and without issue

It does not factory reset (you have to press a lot more buttons for that), It’s just a bit of a different type of reboot from pulling the power plug. Modern receivers are computers with amps attached to them and can sometime do some really odd things that can sometimes clear up with a soft reset.

thanks for confirming - I checked the manual but couldn’t find anything other than it ‘initializing’ it. I have calibrated for the room etc. and really didnt feel like having to redo all that if this did factory reset.

Will try when I get home and post an update. Thanks!

Tried and nothing

I assume I was supposed to disable the “Stereo upmix” option that seemed to work from before.

Toggling these did not work, either.

@sam_nazarko So some updates from my end. I bit the bullet and just reverted to the Feb 2020 update of osmc, my audio is instantly back and working flawlessly. I also decided to try the May 23 update to see if its just the latest one causing problems and that update also does not work. I did not adjust any settings in testing these btw, the older update ‘just works’

Not sure where to go from here, but it clearly seems like somewhere along the way an issue was introduced that causes audio issues with my AVR.

Happy to get or provide whatever you’d require for troubleshooting as the vero has now been reset about 3-4 times for the course of testing.

If your keen to grasp at straws maybe try disabling CEC on the AVR and see if that changes things.
