I just grabbed the exact same file and it plays just fine on my RPi 2b+ over a Kodi smb path so I don’t think it is a file issue. Do you have another power supply you could try? You might want to check your network connection with iperf.
To get a better chance of spotting something in the logs I would suggest (with debug logging) to reboot twice, try to play that file (letting Kodi crash) and then upload full logs so we can see your settings and the system log.
