Video files with AAC 24khz audio issue

Hi there

The Vero V has been working quite well and it’s been quite stable for me.

However, playing older files I noticed that some seem to play only the video without any audio. I checked and it seemed related to the audio codec as it’s unlikely most files nowadays have such lower sampling rate of 24khz. Files with 24khz aac codec do not seem to play audio in the Vero V.

To test whether this was an isolated Vero V issue, I played the same file in Kodi for Android, Kodi for Linux via flatpak and the latest OSMC version in a pi 3. All these devices played audio in this video file.

From the linked AAC samples, AAC Samples, the file titled Bandit includes audio at 24khz which the Vero is unable to play.

Any chance the Vero V is able to play such audio streams in video files?

Thanks in advance

Can you grab a debug log for us?

A workaround might be to select a Fixed samplerate of 48kHz in Audio settings.

Thanks Graham. I confirm that fixing the sample rate in Kodi fixes it. Using Best Match or Optimized audio output doesn’t play the audio on the Vero V. I also have the Vero and the pi 3 directly connected to a Sony TV.

Thanks!

I lied. I was playing that video through a Vertex, which must have been doing some conversion. I don’t get sound playing direct to TV. I’ll see if something can be done - resampling everything (eg your CD rips) is not ideal.

Thanks Graham. The workaround works so I’m able to play those files.

If this is an easy fix it’d be welcome. Otherwise, I can live with fixing the audio sample rate.
