Hi, playback buffers and sometimes the audio continues with a frozen picture on RPi4 OSMC running Kodi 20.5…

is there any customization to configs I can make to remedy the issue?

You could post full logs so someone might have a chance gain some insight. You might check Kodi’s player settings to make sure hardware acceleration is enabled and set to direct to plane.

Player settings have already HW acceleration enabled and DtP, thanks!

I tailed the log and copied when the error occurred. The last two lines log when there’s only “buffering” stop and playback restarts after a few seconds… The repeated errors in the beginning are when the playback resumes with frozen video after buffering…

I could upload more logs… tell me which ones to include, thanks!

Errors are more likely to occur playing larger files ~30G
RPi4 is connected to Hifi berry DAC2 HD

To get a better understanding of the problem you are experiencing we need more information from you. The best way to get this information is for you to upload logs that demonstrate your problem. You can learn more about how to submit a useful support request here.

Depending on the used skin you have to set the settings-level to standard or higher, in summary:

  • enable debug logging at settings->system->logging

  • reboot the OSMC device twice(!)

  • reproduce the issue

  • upload the log set (all configs and logs!) either using the Log Uploader method within the My OSMC menu in the GUI or the ssh method invoking command grab-logs -A

  • publish the provided URL from the log set upload, here
