Visualizations

Would like some visualizations and possibly a nice asteroids screen saver

There are already visualisations shipped with Kodi.

Really ? I haven’t seen any option to install on My OSMC Agust 2023.8.1 version on my vero 4k box. Do you use any?

They are binary add-ons so they are present but disabled by default. If you go to add-ons>my add-ons>look and feel>visualisation> you should see then and can enable the ones you want.

I don’tget the visualizations option :unamused:

That looks like you went to “install from repository” instead of “my add-ons”. They have to be special built for the hardware so they are included as part of the OSMC install and not something you grab from Kodi.

thats what I did

I’ve just stumbled over the milkdrop/projectm comments regarding GLES and then found this:

Might it become a possibility in the future or is it already possible to run projectm on vero 4k+/v since july 2023?

As promised, I’ve taken a look at this.

At least under Kodi v20 (Nexus), it seems to be a no…

checking whether gcc is Clang... no
checking whether pthreads work with -pthread... no
checking whether pthreads work with -pthreads... no
checking for the pthreads library -lpthreads... no
checking whether pthreads work without any flags... no
checking whether pthreads work with -Kthread... no
checking whether pthreads work with -pthread... no
checking whether pthreads work with -pthreads... no
checking whether pthreads work with -mthreads... no
checking for the pthreads library -lpthread... no
checking whether pthreads work with --thread-safe... no
checking whether pthreads work with -mt... no
checking for pthread-config... no
configure: error: pthreads not found

There is at the least a shared library issue dependency issue here.
I suspect a backport / fix will be too late now in this cycle, so if it’s broken with v21, then we can get it fixed there. It’s possible it could be fixed upstream but the fix pointed to above is for Kodi v1 and not v20.
