WakeUp via IR-Remote

How can I wake up the Raspberry Pi via my Remote?
If I hit Power Off on my remote it shuts down, but I can’t start it.

Did I miss a standby option in the settings?

This isn’t possible at this time.

Whit a Pi2 it’s also impossible to wake up from LAN because apparently the Pi1,2 and 3 doesn’t support the WakeOnLAN commands…

Actually you can power off a Raspberry from Shutdown menu but for re-switch on that need to remove/reinsert the AC Adaptor fisically…

As written before that is not possible without extra hardware e.g.:

Thanks, so I will buy this.

Does this mean there exists no real standby at the moment?
I don’t want to boot up all the time. It takes over 10 seconds.
With Standby it would be possible in a 1 or 2 seconds.

Well you might want to investigate a bit more.
Because it looks that with that board the power goes via the pins and not the USB port which means you might not be able to power all devices you have connected to the Pi.

I don’t have any devices connected at the moment.
Only USB stick for the keyboard.

But thanks for the info.

You know that there is no problem in leaving the Pi on all the time right? Most users never turn them off. They use almost no power and were really designed to run constantly. Considering that it probably costs less than $5/yr to power the pi, it will take you 5 years to recoup the cost of this device, if power savings was your concern.

OK thanks for the info.
It is my first Pi and I am coming from an “real” HTPC.
And on a “real” HTPC with fans it is unpossible to leave this giant always on

But thanks for this info.
I have to rethink that I use now a Pi and not a “real” HTPC and will leaving the Pi on all the time.

hehe

Hi!
I’ve that board. I also have connected a USB stick and a USB wireless receiver for mouse & keyboard. They work well. The last board I have connected is a hifiberry with optical output. All the boards are connected with the pins. The only USB power is connected to the remotepi board.
All is perfectly working.
