Washed out black?

That’s a very very likely possibility since you say the V wont output full-range to a display that doesn’t support it.
Hopefully the OP sees this.
It’s actually a very common thing these days now that people play XBOX and PS at their desks on PC monitors and people play PC games on 4K TVs.
Lot’s of people got LG 40" OLEDs to be used for their gaming PCs.
Many older TVs won’t let you change between 0~255 and 16~235 and newer ones that do usually require you to make a change that you may have never even thought about doing (I think on my LG OLED it wants me to label the HDMI input as “PC” and then it makes the change).
I really hope the OP sees this because this would totally make sense!

Wow! That would be … subtle. It’s more likely that it just detects RGB output from the console and sets full-range based on that. All my Panasonics work like that and won’t switch to full-range with a YCC signal.

Had that with an old LG 32”
