Just got a Vero V, booted it up, paired with the remote, established a network connection, updated OSMC, and then found nothing in the menus, and hardly anything on the OSMC Wiki, about KODI! Not even a link to the KODI Wiki (which I eventually found via an internet search). This perplexes me since I, like most people buying Vero V, want to know as little as possible about OSMC, and to learn to use KODI as hassle-free as possible. Right now, the KODI Wiki says I should be running the Estuary skin to learn to use KODI, and I’m having trouble even finding that. I certainly don’t want to submit a support ticket for something this mundane, so I’m hoping someone here can provide a newbe with some useful pointers.
Actually, I don’t understand your question.
What is the problem?
By default, the Vero V boots into Kodi directly, plain and simple.
OSMC is Kodi with some customization, and one of them is an OSMC specific skin. If you want Estuary, you can go to settings > interface and look for the area where you can pick another skin.
Many users come to Vero/OSMC from using Kodi on other platforms and you’re right - there could be a better getting started guide for those who don’t. I would say, though, that every bit of tech you buy needs a certain amount of ‘clicking about’ to get to grips with the interface and most people manage to find their way about like that.
The only thing that’s important when you start is to understand how to set up media sources and the concept of the media ‘libraries’. Now you’ve found the Kodi wiki you can see there advice on the best way to do this. You can still navigate to your media files through the directory structure on your media storage device but it’s clunky and you lose lots of the good features that make Kodi great.
The menu structure in the OSMC skin is the same as with the Estuary skin - ours is more text based. You may find the Kodi wiki tutorials easier to follow with Estuary. That skin is included in OSMC and can be selected as @pkscout’s advice.
We ask you what skin to use on first boot, but it can be adjusted any time as others have advised
