What format to use? (SOLVED)

Hello,

I recently got OSMC on my Raspberry Pi (Model B+). I played around for a while, then decided to use it to actually watch something. I copied an Ogg Theora video file into /home/osmc/Movies on the SD card, then went to Videos > Files > Add Videos > Browse, and navigated into the directory. The video wasn’t listed. I converted it to MP4 format, with the same result.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there just some other format I should be using?

Thanks!

Providing mediainfo could be useful in finding your issue as well…

1. Download and install Mediainfo from http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
2. Run MediaInfo and use it to 'Open' the file you want to inspect.
3. Switch view from MediaInfo menu, select 'View' then from the drop down list select 'Text'.

As someone wrote in another thread already. “Add Vidoes” is not designed to add single files but media directories.
Just browse to the directory that has your file and add that directory than the video is added to your video library where you can find it.
For your info the “normal” OSMC/Kodi user has thousands of movies and music files in their libraries.
Lastly the supported format can be found here http://kodi.wiki/view/Features_and_supported_formats#Format_support

That worked, thanks!
