I’ve got OSMC RC installed on a Rasp Pi 2 B and it loads up fine. Using a Wifi Dongle it connects the the internet and allows SSH connections.
However whenever KODI scans the database and tired to download data the wifi cuts out. If left alone the wifi is restored after 20-30 minutes. I’ve tired using a different dongle (that I know works as it was the one off my raspmbc Pi B) and it has the same issue.
To further make things complicated. I installed Sabnzbd and was able to download 2GB of data with no issue. But atempting a scan resulted in the same wifi drop.
I went as far as to curl imdb from ssh and it resulted in a drop.
I’m at a loss. Any ideas? Which logs would be helpful to diagnose this issue?
Almost sounds like your power supply isn’t quite up to snuff. I had a similar problem with RetroPi where under load it didn’t have enough power to continue to power the wifi dongle.
Doesnt mean it is actually pushing out that much juice, although if it was weak there would be a low voltage indicator shown in the top corner of the screen,
I swapped out the Power supply and it didn’t seem to fix my issues. I am not entirely certain that the new one isn’t the problem either as they came from the same vendor. I’ve ordered a new psu that should be here in a few days.
I too am seeing this problem
Wifi remains connected for five to ten mins and then drops out.
OSMC config tool says internet is connected but if I go to Kodi sysinfo it says internet is disconnected.
Seems like a bug???
My wifi dongle is a Planex GW-USWEXTREME
works without fault in both Raspbmc and openELEC.
Switched out power supplies as a fault finder from a 1.2 amp to a 1.8 amp supply but saw no difference in the behaviour.
I too am having the same issue on a B+ with Realtek RTL8192CU. Sometimes my device will connect on reboot but most of the time I need to manually connect it in OSMC settings each time. The connection then works for awhile but after some time Kodi System Info shows MAC and Internet as “Busy”. Then the MAC will show up correctly but Internet says “Not Connected”.
Same problem here with exactly the same behavior. I’m using the Edimax on a RPI 2.
Edit: I’ve just noticed. Sometimes, after I restart it gets a weird IP, like 169.x.x.x, when actually my router has a static ip for the RPI like 192.168.x.x
Yup, I’ve the same problem after coming across to the RC from Alpha 4. I thought it might be the screensaver, I disabled it and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I’ve noticed it when watching videos, if I can get into the network information it shows the internet as Busy and then Not Connected.
The RC version seems to be more unstable than the Alpha 4 version.
