YouTube plugin and Viewport setting

Will the Kodi YouTube plugin running on a Vero4K give me a Viewport setting of 3840x2160, or 1920x1080x2 ?
This information is in the “stats for nerds” window, while playing a 4K stream.

These stats show a stream resolution of 3840x2160 and a display resolution of 3840x2160, but the viewport resolution is only 1920x1080x2 when using a Firestick4K or my Sony X950H YouTube app.

This appears to be a limitation of the players processing power.

If you configure it this way, you should™ get actual UHD resolution.

Thanks…once I get some new and acceptable API’s I will try that.

Meanwhile can someone explain what these log entries mean. I know my Sony X950H display is displaying 4K videos from Vero4K at 4K resolution, just don’t understand why these 4K resolution entries show 1920x1080 .

Thats most likely from the GUI display.

I believe when you post full logs (either via MyOSMC or grab-logs -A) we can get a better picture.

Here you go.

The kodi.old.log is in debug mode

Ok, I checked I also have

This most likely comes from the fact that Kodi currently does not support a 4k natively (for generating the GUI) but maybe @grahamh can confirm the mening of that.
Therefore in general it is also recommended to keep the GUI resolution at 1920x1080 and not 4k as you have configured it.
But I can confirm that 4k Youtube is playing fine in 4k on my Vero4k after I have configured Dash respectively.

Thanks
If this was a pixel shift 4K display I could understand the entries.

But I checked out all the Video Identification Codes from the EDID and also the Kodi player’s DebugInfo and DisplayInfo, and stream info, and all was good.

Got my new API’s , so on to configuring the addon.

The question would be best asked in the Kodi forum. My guess is that Kodi uses 1920x1080 as the units to set out the GUI, even though it’s displayed at twice the resolution.
