You seem to be streaming that Planet Earth from an online source. I downloaded the whole thing for testing and to eliminate networking issues. I get occasional glitches in the same places whether I play it at 25 or 50Hz, with or without the subtitles that are in the file.
Since the original Blu-ray was, I think, 1080p25 VC-1 and your version is 4k25 hevc we can only speculate about how the conversion was done. And by who. Since I get glitches at the same places playing it on a PC (although the PC masks them a bit better) I assume there are issues with the rip.
I agree, I also saw consistent glitches on the same place which I contribute to a bad rip BUT there’s definitely something going on with enabled subtitles. I tested “The mountains” episode multiple times and there are definitely hiccups going on at the beginning panning shot when subtitles show up on the screen. No hiccups when subtitles are disabled. I whitelisted every mode except 50hz which (interestingly) solved the issue with Black Mirror episodes (also 25hz) but didn’t solve it with Planet Earth. Even tried whitelisting everything except 25hz and no dice. Toggling double framerates and that judder option also do nothing in this case. The only solution is disabling subtitles but I use them with every content. Also tried 1080p version of Planet earth (25hz) and the same issue persists. As I said, I have no issues with 23.9 and 24 content, plays flawlessly.
You didn’t find anything unusual in the posted log?
Edit: just tried the same Planet Earth episode (with subtitles) on Stremio installed on my android tv. No issues apart from the rip glitches.
I have no idea… I’m relatively new with Vero V for a month or so, installed the latest update when it came and tried the mentioned content for the first time yesterday.
I’ve done some more tests. On my Panasonic TV, there’s something called ‘Intelligent Frame Creation’. When it’s on, it smooths over the glitches when a subtitle displays so they are not noticeable.
On my Philips TV, the glitches are also not noticeable but I haven’t managed to find any relevant settings in its awful menus.
Maybe you could play with some settings on your TV (?Sony) while we see if there’s anything we can do about this on Vero.
Interesting. I know my Bravia settings from inside out and it’s set to my perfect liking so I most likely won’t be changing the motion settings since I haven’t had any problems before that…
