My AVR indicates 5 channels on the front panel but 2 channels on the OSD when I engage the ‘5 channel stereo’ mode when playing stereo.
Mine does too. I was wrong about not being able to engage surround mode. It will allow that but still nothing comes from the other channels when I do. Only front left and right.
With a stereo 44.1 flac file as source. I’ve now set resample to 48k. 5.1 channels indicated on the amp but sound only from front left and right and sounds no different to straight stereo.
Maybe this is a red herring? The amp may always have shown it like that from hdmi?
Either way, I could play ripped CDs before and now they skip approx every 3 seconds so I’m guessing something is different with the way this release sends 44.1kb audio down the hdmi output?
Thanks

Noted. If we are sending stereo, which we are:

then it’s up to your amp how it deals with it. I can’t think what’s causing 44.1k hiccups but we can take a closer look at that.
Thanks. Please let me know if there’s anything I can help with

If I do this I’ll need to ensure all my key mappings for the logitech remote are still assigned correctly. Can anyone confirm please that doing a backup with My OSMC will save those settings?
Also how about my source mounts etc?
Is there anything NOT backed up by the use of My OSMC?
If the above is backing everything up, then to reinstall my last working build should be as simple as:
-
Backup all settings to USB using My OSMC
-
Download [2022.03-1] image and install using standard OSMC installer
-
Reinstall all my backed up settings using My OSMC
Then all should be good to go - Is that correct please or have I forgotten something?
Thanks

Any news on this yet please?
It seems like Vero is sending 44.1khz data to my amp in a different way from the previous build since it is now not playing correctly (seems to have a very brief pause every 3 seconds) when it was fine before.
I really don’t want the hassle of rolling back to the previous firmware if I can avoid it…
Thanks
-Mat
There’s nothing in the logs that suggests anything wrong. So I doubt we could put a timescale on resolving it. I don’t think anyone else has had this issue. It looks like something unique to you or at least unique to the NAD.
I haven’t yet found anything in the code that could have caused this but if we do find anything we’ll let you know.
Well thanks Anyway Graham. Seems like I might have to go back to the previous release then.
Oh well - all good fun
Thanks
-Mat
With that said we are looking in to some other audio issues. I’ll keep a note of your issue and let you know when we have progress.
I doubt the changes we are working on will make a difference but you never know…
Hey Sam,
Did you include any audio fixes/changes in the latest release?
I’m still having the same issue with 44.1khz audio
Thanks
-Mat
There were indeed some changes regarding audio.
I’ll ask @grahamh if there’s anything beneficial to your case.
Sam
Thanks. It would be good if it worked for me again. I don’t really want to roll back to an earlier build but may have no choice otherwise

There’s no audio changes in this release. Ironically, the last kernel upgrade from 4.9.113 to 4.9.269 did fix an issue when playing 4k video with 44.1k audio. And as far as I can tell that is still working fine.
The logs you posted before have expired. If it’s not too late, can you upload some more logs with the October release? Maybe we can see something.
Bit busy now but I’ll capture some on the weekend if not before.
Happy to try any fixes for sound over hdmi you have
As I pointed out in an early posting, it seems as if there’s a difference in ‘the stream’ sent via hdmi for 44.1khz audio on this firmware compared to the 2022.03-1. Something to do with what is sent over hdmi and how my amp interprets it. If I plug the vero into the tv and play a 44.1 track (16 or 24 bit) it’s fine. If I plug the vero into the amp and play the same track I get micro-skips every few seconds. It didn’t do that on the 2022.03-1 firmware and all played fine.
I don’t know how audio is sent to along HDMI but I’m guessing there are flags to indicate certain things and keep sync? Did they change after 2022.03-1?
Like I said, happy to be a guinea pig and try potential fixes
Thanks
-Mat
Audio is carried in the blanking interval of the video. There’s nothing to adjust, really. And there are no relevant changes in the kernel code since March. Could be something very subtle in the the way the HDMI hardware is programmed but the details of that are a ‘black box’ proprietary to the SoC maker.
Sounds like there’s not much I can do then really except roll back.
I’ll try and get some logs anyway
Thanks
-Mat
I can’t remember - do you get this issue with both stereo and multi-channel?
I’ve just checked and no. I have a 24bit 44.1khz album in 5.1 surround and it plays fine
A different 24 bit 44.1 stereo album shows the skips and doesn’t play fine
Would logs of both help?
Thanks
-Mat
No but that gives me an idea. I’ll get back to you next week.
fingers crossed then
Thanks
